Case Studies
Problem: A leading industry leader recognized how important chess was to him in developing his thinking skills and wanted to share this through a foundation he established, and the challenge was attracting people to this new venture.
Solution: The decision was made to stage the world's largest open chess tournament, providing a platform of visibility for this new entity. Stoked by the largest cash prizes ever seen in such a chess event, The Wallace Group achieved dramatic coverage of the forthcoming event and subsequent coverage of the tournament itself. Millions of impressions were gained worldwide, from London to Manila, the Ukraine to Mexico City. Extensive broadcast coverage was obtained in the Twin Cities area, and a video report produced for the event was circulated widely. Some 57 grandmasters from around the world participated in the tourney, held in Minneapolis.
